Draft Report

The South Australian Government has asked the SA Productivity Commission to review the regulations relating to tourism, with specific attention to nature-based tourism and agritourism. The main purpose of the review is to make recommendations on regulatory reforms that will reduce regulatory barriers to the recovery and future development of the tourism industry while not compromising the public interests protected by those regulations.

Next steps

The draft report was published on 6 August 2021 and is intended to encourage feedback from stakeholders and interested parties on the Commission’s work, including its analyses, initial conclusions, and draft recommendations. Some information requests are also included in the draft report, responses to which will assist the Commission in completing the final report.

The Commission acknowledges the contributions from tourism regulators and operators, industry and professional associations and various stakeholders. The Commission will hold further consultations as necessary.
