The South Australian Productivity Commission has received a notice of inquiry on 16 November 2021 to assess the state's renewable energy competitiveness.

South Australia has been recognised globally for its efforts in renewable energy systems (including windfarms and battery storage). However, many other states of Australia and nations globally are aggressively pursuing renewable energy expansion policies to, amongst other things, grasp economic development opportunities.

The SAPC is conducting an inquiry to assess the state’s renewable energy competitive advantage and has been asked to recommend actions the SA Government may take to enhance the state’s competitive position. The inquiry will also identify areas of potential economic development related to any actual or potential renewable energy competitive advantage that warrant further investigation by the SA Government. The Commission received the terms of reference from the government on 16 November 2021.

Stakeholders are encouraged to provide information and views to the inquiry and to share this information with other stakeholders who may wish to contribute to this inquiry.
