Draft Report
In early February 2020, the South Australian Productivity Commission (the Commission) was tasked with evaluating the effectiveness and efficiency of regulation, policies and practices for the extractives supply chain. The Commission was also asked to identify reform options including enhancing industry output, expediting mining assessment processes, and strategically locating quarries near infrastructure projects.
Next steps
The draft report was published on 23 June 2020 and is intended to further engage stakeholders and interested parties on the Commission’s work, including its analyses, initial conclusions, and draft recommendations. Some information requests are also included in the draft report, responses to which will assist the Commission in its understanding.
The Commission thanks quarry operators, and industry associations and professionals for their contributions and will hold further consultations as necessary.
